چکیده

Let G be a finite graph with H as a star complement for an eigenvalue other than 0 or −1. Let κ(G), δ(G) denote respectively the vertex-connectivity and minimum degree of G. We prove that κ(G) is controlled by δ(G) and κ(H). In particular, for each k ∈ IN there exists a smallest non-negative integer f(k) such that κ(G) ≥ k whenever κ(H) ≥ k and δ(G) ≥ f(k). We show that f(1) = 0, f(2) = 2, f(3) = 3, f(4) = 5 and f(5) = 7. AMS Classification: 05C50

Star complements and exceptional graphs

Let G be a finite graph of order n with an eigenvalue μ of multiplicity k. (Thus the μ-eigenspace of a (0, 1)-adjacency matrix of G has dimension k.) A star complement for μ in G is an induced subgraph G−X of G such that |X| = k and G−X does not have μ as an eigenvalue. An exceptional graph is a connected graph, other than a generalized line graph, whose eigenvalues lie in [−2,∞). We establish ...

Star Complements in Regular Graphs: Old and New Results

We survey results concerning star complements in finite regular graphs, and note the connection with designs and strongly regular graphs in certain cases. We include improved proofs along with new results on stars and windmills as star complements. AMS Classification: 05C50

Star Complements and Edge-connectivity in Finite Graphs

Let G be a finite graph with H as a star complement for a non-zero eigenvalue μ. Let κ′(G), δ(G) denote respectively the edge-connectivity and minimum degree of G. We show that κ′(G) is controlled by δ(G) and κ′(H). We describe the possibilities for a minimum cutset of G when μ 6∈ {−1, 0}. For such μ, we establish a relation between κ′(G) and the spectrum of H when G has a non-trivial minimum c...

D-Spectrum and D-Energy of Complements of Iterated Line Graphs of Regular Graphs

The D-eigenvalues {µ1,…,µp} of a graph G are the eigenvalues of its distance matrix D and form its D-spectrum. The D-energy, ED(G) of G is given by ED (G) =∑i=1p |µi|. Two non cospectral graphs with respect to D are said to be D-equi energetic if they have the same D-energy. In this paper we show that if G is an r-regular graph on p vertices with 2r ≤ p - 1, then the complements of iterated lin...

Incidence cuts and connectivity in fuzzy incidence graphs

Fuzzy incidence graphs can be used as models for nondeterministic interconnection networks having extra node-edgerelationships. For example, ramps in a highway system may be modeled as a fuzzy incidence graph so that unexpectedflow between cities and highways can be effectively studied and controlled. Like node and edge connectivity in graphs, node connectivity and arc connectivity in fuzzy inci...
